in your latest cartoon

August 20, 2013

“Wondering why something so natural can be so painful”… Breastfeeding is a learned art, not always coming naturally, like many other aspects of parenthood. What would help the mother in your latest cartoon would be to sit in a chair where her arms rest, so that she’s not supporting the weight of the baby from her shoulders – a sure way to get shoulder and neck pain. Mother needs to be comfortable first and then baby fit in with her body. Hope this helps to reduce the pain.

Good advice Jenni – we’ll bear it mind!

I find your cartoon of July 1...

… offensive to people who happen to be fat. The thought of a Mother being impressed by their child engaging in fat-shaming or any other prejudicial behaviour makes me feel sad.

Still laughing at the cartoon of the mum dishing out sausages “knowing you can always count on sausages” so true!!

always an "out loud laugh"

May 28, 2013

I have been cutting your cartoons out of the Christchurch Press for ages to send to my adult daughters who have young ones; always an “out loud laugh”. Only today I have I thought to go into your website. I’m off to buy the book. When my older daughter (aged 3ish) and I were in the bank one day; she asked very loudly “Why is that lady fat Mummy?” Everyone heard her! Too late for “shshing”; to this day I am amazed at my casual quick response: “”

“People come in all shapes and sizes darling”!!! Keep up the great work.

Response from The Little Things cartoons

Hi Janet, fast thinking indeed! Hope you’re enjoying the book, and we’ve got a new one coming out in September. To save cutting out more cartoons, you’re daughters may like to follow The Little Things on Stuff (www.stuff.co.nz) – a new cartoon everyday!

I love you to bits bruther!
